Anne Charnock

Anne Charnock’s writing career began in journalism and her reports appeared in New Scientist and The Guardian. Her debut novel A Calculated Life was shortlisted for the 2013 Philip K. Dick and Kitschies Golden Tentacle Awards. Dreams Before the Start of Time is shortlisted for the BSFA 2017 Award for Best Novel, and The Enclave, her first novella, for the BSFA 2017 Award for Best Short Fiction. She has also written Sleeping Embers of an Ordinary Mind. Anne was educated at the University of East Anglia where she studied Environmental Sciences, and at The Manchester School of Art where she gained a MA in Fine Art. She is interviewer-in-residence for the Ada Lovelace Conversations, a collaboration between the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the Ada Lovelace Day
