“Martin Springett was the first artist to render a visual interpretation of my work over 40 years ago. To this day his images continue to be one of those rare cases of an artist's talent working beautifully to mirror and compliment the written work.” – Guy Gavriel Kay.
Back in the 1980s I was captivated by the Fionavar Trilogy, a series of novels by new Canadian author Guy Gavriel Kay.
Part of their charm lay in the ethereal cover art by Martin Springett, images which fitted the narrative like a glove.
Martin contacted me a few years back, floating the idea of NewCon publishing an artbook featuring the work he's done with Guy over the years along with other pieces inspired by the author's writing. It's taken a fair while to come together because we wanted to make sure we got this right.
I'm delighted to say that, in my humble opinion, we have.
Bright Weaving consists of 74 pages of stunning images complemented by a smattering of informative text.
The book is available as a standard paperback edition and a deluxe signed paperback edition (limited to just 50 numbered copies), printed on high quality Silk paper (115gsm) which really makes the artwork pop.
