A prolific novelist, critic, and academic, Adam Roberts is known for fiction that interrogates ideas as much as it tells stories. His work ranges from sharp, politically engaged science fiction to playful, genre-bending narratives that rework myth, philosophy, and literary tradition with wit and precision. Across his novels and shorter works, he consistently challenges assumptions about technology, culture, and the stories we tell about the future.
Adam teaches literature and creative writing at Royal Holloway College and, alongside his writing, he is a sharply observant critic, with a reputation for witty no-nonsense commentary. Many of his most memorable reviews are gathered in the two NewCon volumes 'Sibilant Fricative' and 'Rave and Let Die', the latter earning him the second of his three BSFA Awards.
In addition to his two volumes of pithy reviews, Adam's work with NewCon includes the short story collection "Saint Rebor' and novellas 'The Lake Boy' and 'The Man Who Would Be Kling'. His short fiction has also featured in a dozen NewCon Press anthologies, starting with our second publication, 'disLocations' (2007) and including 'Fables from the Fountain, 'Crises and Conflicts', and 'Stories of Hope and Wonder'.
