Gary Gibson is a Scottish science fiction author whose work has established him as a notable voice in contemporary space opera. Born in Glasgow, he studied sociology, history and politics at Glasgow Caledonian University before working in graphic design and IT — experience that later informed the technological texture and structural precision of his fiction.
He has built an extensive body of work exploring post-human futures, advanced technologies and galaxy-spanning conflict. His Shoal Sequence novels — "Stealing Light", "Nova War", "Empire of Light", and "Marauder" — blended high-concept speculation with energetic storytelling in a space opera setting.
Gary’s work with NewCon Press includes the novellas "Ghost Frequencies" (2018) and "Devil’s Road" (NewCon edition, 2020). His short fiction can also be found in the cyberpunk anthology "Night, Rain and Neon".
Currently you will find Gary embedded deep in the neon whirl of New Taipei City, a few kilometres from the contested territories of the South Asian Sea. He carves lies out of pixels for a digital sweatshop dedicated to launching billionaires into space.
