Juliet E. McKenna

Juliet E McKenna is a British fantasy author living in the Cotswolds. She has loved history, myth and other worlds since she first learned to read. She has written fifteen epic fantasy novels, from 'The Thief’s Gamble', beginning The Tales of Einarinn to 'Defiant Peaks', concluding The Hadrumal Crisis trilogy. In between novels, she writes assorted diverse shorter fiction, reviews for web and print magazines and promotes SF&Fantasy through genre conventions, teaching creative writing and commenting on book trade issues. Most recently she’s been exploring opportunities in independent digital publishing, re-issuing her backlist as well as bringing out original fiction. Juliet’s novels span epic and contemporary fantasy, with titles that draw on folklore, history and profound emotional insight. From the immersive Tales of Einarinn to her Green Man sequence, her stories reward readers who love well-crafted fantasy with heart. In 2016 Juliet was awarded the Karl Edward Wagner Award by the British Fantasy Society, and in 2023 her novel 'The Green Man's Gift' won the BSFA Award. Her work with NewCon Press includes the Polestars collection 'Different Times and Other Places' (2024), the steampunk novella 'The Golden Rule' and short stories in some half a dozen anthologies, including 'Soot and Steel', 'Burning Brightly', and 'The Iron Code'.
